Carver Community Center is a multi-service, non for profit human
services agency located in the City of Schenectady, New York.
Carver operates out of three permanent sites and four satellite locations.
Our programs include: fully licensed child care facility, located in Hamilton
Hill; NYS licensed drug and alcohol counseling, treatment and intervention
facility, located in the Vale-State Street neighborhood; a remedial education
program (Latimer Education), operating in Hamilton Hill, Yates Village and Steinmetz Homes.
A youth services and gang
prevention program, located in Hamilton Hill; foster care prevention and
adolescent pregnancy prevention support services, operating in Hamilton Hill;
family and individual counseling services, also operating in Hamilton Hill; weekly food pantry and clothing distribution center, located
in Hamilton Hill; and an informational service program to assist community
people in accessing services offered by municipal and other agencies, also in
Hamilton Hill. A branch of the Schenectady County Public Library is housed at
our 700 Craig Street building.
Carver employs over 40 part and full time staffers, who are as ethnically
diverse as the population we serve. Carver receives funding and fees for
services from seventeen sources, including the United Way.
Our Mission
It is the mission of Carver Community Center, Inc. to respond to the varied
needs of individuals and families living in the City and County of Schenectady
and to continue to develop new initiatives to meet the ever-changing needs of
our community.
