COMMUNITY COUNSELING SERVICES
846 State Street, Schenectady, NY 12307 • 382-7838
Key Benefits
Carver Community Counseling Services is an established chemical dependence
medically supervised outpatient treatment program that offers comprehensive
services to individuals (and their families) with problems relating to alcohol
and/or substance abuse. The program treats individuals ages 12 and up with
varying needs through orientation, addiction education, and recovery
maintenance.
Carver Community Counseling Services also offers all of its services in Spanish
to meet the needs of the Latino population. Carver also operates a satellite
site at the NorthEast Parent and Child Society. Group and Individual Therapy is
provided to a high risk adolescent population at this site. Carver Community
Counseling also provides prevention services at the Cities and Schools program.
Carver Community Counseling Services provides a safe haven in which clients and
counselors cooperate to accomplish mutually decided goals. One goal is to
balance the intense nature of treatment and the joy of being a part of an
encouraging environment where everyone is given respect and quality care.
The program treats a variety of clients with varying levels of functioning
resulting from substance abuse and related psychiatric problems. Our primary
referrals come from Child Protective Services, the Criminal Justice system and
the Department of Social Services. Clients’ histories of substance use or
related behavior substantiate the need for a specialized treatment program.
A multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals treats clients from a
holistic point of view and is supervised by a licensed addictionologist. Clients
are seen as complex individuals who posses a variety of ineffective coping
skills to deal with their substance abuse problems and/or psychological
difficulties. The treatment team works hard to aid the clients with learning
ways to improve the quality of their lives. The agency is dedicated to offering
quality comprehensive care from a multicultural perspective.
We continue to explore innovative methods of reaching the “high risk” population
in order to provide preventive counseling and treatment.
